20 October 2021 - The first World Maritime Merchants Forum was held in Hong Kong. During the release of its plan for digital ambitions, CMES Shipping proposed the concept of building a blockchain-based digital eco-chain and launched the BRITC (Belt and Road Intelligent Trade and Transportation Chain) digital platform for trade and transportation of mass goods for the first time.

The BRITC platform is a result of CMES' continuous innovative exploration and practice in trade and transportation of mass goods by adhering to digitization-empowered concepts and using new digital technologies to optimize and upgrade the industrial chain and promote the accelerated digital transformation, and is also the concept of integrated blockchain eco-platform proposed for the first time in the field of global trade and transportation of mass goods.

The trade and transportation of mass goods has a long industrial chain featuring many intermediate links and large transaction amounts. Facing the pain points such as complex transportation organizations, low industrial collaboration efficiency, difficulties in data sharing and a high degree of dependence on commercial credit, CMES Shipping, as one of the global largest shipping companies, put forward the concept of BRITC platform, aiming to comprehensively apply blockchain, big data, IoT (Internet of Things) and other new digital technologies, connect main stakeholders in the mass goods trade and transportation industrial chain, promote solving the problem of "asymmetric information and credit non-transmission", and eventually optimize the ecosystem. The concept is also intended to improve the overall efficiency of the industrial chain, reduce the costs of coordination among companies, promote digital and intelligent trade and transportation of mass goods for the whole chain, and make such trade and transportation simpler, safer, efficient and transparent.

Currently, the BRITC platform has completed its Phase I infrastructure construction, including building the underlying blockchain platform, BRITC maritime service platform, BRITC document system, BRITC contract system and BRITC digital information platform. In addition, it has been tested in global iron ore transportation and has undergone the verification, which is conducted with related traders, maritime carriers, port operators and agents, in actual business scenarios such as shipping by chartering, cargo tracking, port coordination and port operation.

The launch of BRITC platform is not only a milestone reached in working out digital optimized solutions in mass goods trade and transportation and promoting the industry's digital transformation, but also an invitation for cooperation to like-minded people around the world. The BRITC platform, essentially an infrastructure for the digital development of mass goods trade and transportation, depends on extensive involvement and joint efforts of all parties in the industrial chain, and is intended to build an open, shared, mutually beneficial and win-win digital ecosystem for mass goods trade and transportation participants. CMES Shipping, following the open, fair and win-win concepts, hereby sincerely invites all parties in the industrial chain to build the BRITC platform, share the ecosystem and create value together.
