--About SNL Zhangjiagang--
The 2400 TEU container vessel SNL Zhangjiagang is a marvelous vessel from the new-generation SEALION series designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute. As the last vessel among four container ships ordered by CMES' subsidiary, Sinolines, in early 2021, this new-generation design is not only green, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly, but also boasts a combination of economical, intelligence and safety features. The vessel will operate on shipping lines between China and East India.
With a depth of 17.1 meters, the vessel is 188.9 meters in length and 32.2 meters in breadth, boasting a capacity of 2433 standard containers. It can accommodate mixed loading using the RUSSIAN STOWAGE method on both cargo holds and decks. The deck can accommodate up to 7 layers of containers, while the cargo holds can carry 6 layers of standard containers or 5 layers of high cube containers, not to mention the 300 reefer plugs equipped for refrigerated containers. The ship features also an S-BOW design with a twisted rudder and integrated propulsion system, enabling a draught speed of 19.151 knots.
SNL Zhangjiagang incorporates multiple energy-efficient designs, technologies, products, or systems, including S-BOW design, a twisted rudder with a rudder bulb, highly efficient propellers, waste heat utilization from auxiliary engine exhaust, energy-efficient design of fuel tanks, DOSS intelligent management system, and high-efficiency anti-fouling paint with organic silicon. All of these features contribute to its remarkable performance in endurance, energy efficiency, and emission reduction, which meets EEDI Phase III standards. As the level of the intelligent management system has been effectively boosted, the ship's operations are safer, more economical, and environmentally friendly.
Featuring a lightweight design and flexible loading options, the vessel has significant advantages such as large capacity and the ability to carry a large number of containers including heavy containers, reefer containers, and high cube containers, in addition to its high speed and fuel efficiency. With its delivery, CMES' container fleet will see further enhancement in its market competitiveness, route services, and energy efficiency indicators for sustainability.
