9 January 2025, Hong Kong - The launch ceremony for the SMART COLD CHAIN cold chain transportation project, organized by CMES Shipping, was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The SMART COLD CHAIN project aims to improve the quality of life in Hong Kong and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area through efficient cold chain logistics services, contributing to economic development. CMES Shipping, based on its container liner service advantages, coordinates resources from China Merchants Group's port and logistics sectors to fully leverage their strengths, working together to promote the initiative of "Deep Cultivation in Hong Kong and Meticulous Cultivation in Southeast Asia" in a more effective and practical manner, better serving the development of Hong Kong's society and livelihood.

SMART COLD CHAIN Project

The SMART COLD CHAIN project is jointly initiated by CMES, Sinotrans, and China Merchants Hoi Tung. The project utilizes the container liner services and cold chain transportation of Sinolines, a subsidiary of CMES Shipping, and integrates internal and external resources from the China Merchants Group, including trade, cold chain transportation, smart cold storage, and Best Mart 360 supermarkets. This creates an efficient and agile one-stop cold chain logistics service system, ensuring that fresh produce and other essential goods are delivered quickly and safely to the people of Hong Kong.

In addition, Sinolines has also carefully studied the layout of its shipping network in Hong Kong and launched a new self-operated South China-Thailand-Vietnam Line (CVT1) on 23rd November, 2024. The line operates with two 1,000 TEU vessels, covering departure points in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Nansha, Hong Kong, Shekou) and destinations in Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City), Thailand (Laem Chabang), and surrounding countries. Using the CVT1 route as a platform, Sinolines continues to expand Hong Kong's cold chain logistics business. It is also responding to the region's growing demand for diverse, high-quality cold chain products, continuously enhancing its services to contribute to Hong Kong's social and livelihood development.
