CMES wins the BIMCO "Shipping Company of the Year in Greater China" Award

28 February 2019 - Mr Xie Chunlin, Chairman of CMES, attended the BIMCO Shanghai Conference and Award Dinner 2019, organized by BIMCO, one of the world's largest shipping organizations. Chairman Xie Chunlin received the "Shipping Company of the Year in Greater China" award and delivered a speech on behalf of CMES at the conference.

In his speech, Mr Xie mentioned CMES' robust implementation of corporate client targeting, low-cost production and globalization strategies in recent years. Through mergers and acquisitions, CMES has steadily formed a new business model that encompasses oil tanker transportation, dry bulk transportation, gas transportation and special transportation, developing a clearer blueprint in becoming a world-class shipping enterprise. In 2018, the company made solid progress in promoting the integration and development of the shipping sector, in efforts to cultivate competitive and "all-round" shipowners. As the existing capacity and orderbook capacity reached 45 million tons, our business performance witnessed a significant increase. In accordance with the cooperative spirit of "Trading around the World", CMES will maintain close cooperation with various customers and industry partners to achieve a win-win situation and create a better future for the shipping industry!

Attendees of Conference included relevant leaders of the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission and the Pudong New Area Government, Mr Anastasios Papagiannopoulos, Chairman of BIMCO and executives from renowned shipping companies. During panel discussion, Mr Ding Lei, Vice President of CMES, spoke on behalf of the company. At the panel discussion, participants exchanged views on the latest arbitration, terms and conditions of the BIMCO contract, eco-challenges imposed on shipowners, as well as how companies should move forward against the backdrop of the trade dispute and the IMO 2020 Sulphur limit.

BIMCO is one of the world's largest shipping organizations with more than 100 years of history. Headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, it has over 2,300 members in 130 countries and regions, representing two thirds of the world merchant fleets. In 2013, BIMCO set foot in Shanghai and established the Shanghai Center, which is its regional headquarters in Asia to provide services more directly to members and shipping industry fellows in China.
